A couple of good questions have came up.
Staging? If you are NOT camping, I would suggest that you stage your gear first before coming to the start/finish-camp for check-in. It is a few miles on a gravel road and it would be best to make as few trips as possible.
If everything goes well, we plan on bringing your boats and gear back to the camp while you are racing. So be sure to keep all your gear together during transitions to avoid getting it lost or just misplaced.
Running while boating? There will be NO running during the paddle this year. Running will be before and after.
Parking... There is plenty of parking at the camp IF we keep organized. DO NOT block the road, you may park along the road if needed.
Please post future questions on the blog under comments of this post and we will address them here so everyone can see.
THANKS!!!! for all the great questions and your participation, we hope you are as excited as we are..

We run a non-traditional AR, so anyone can have as much fun as they want. Therefore we make checkpoints optional and you get to choose your own route.
ReplyDeleteAs for race course details, we like to keep it quiet until the start of the race. It's the mystery that makes it exciting, well to us anyway.
You will be doing 5 diciplines that will include running, mtb-- mostly on single track, paddling on a lake, trekking a "O" course and a ROGAINE finish so everyone finishes up at 5pm. If you clear the course you could expect to travel about 28 miles with no mistakes. The order of events will be revealed at the start line. But, be ready to run first (trails, roads, bushwhack). At that point you will be following the topographical map that we will provide you. You must complete each discipline in order (as indicated on map), but may opt out of checkpoints if you choose. (details at the start line) Checkpoints are 10 points each and you will have a scorecard to punch at each checkpoint. Checkpoints are unmanned and we use the typical orienteering orange/white control except on the mountain bikes and we use blue/white ribbons. (this helps cut down on theft) There is a late penalty after 5pm.
Water is on the course as indicated on the map. Carry your own food.
Staging gear... Once you leave the start line, you will not return until the last discipline, so stage evrything you will need. But be able to carry most with you. The only staging area that we will bring back is the boats.
We do a mass start and you get to pick your own route, so be carefull about following other teams, they may be as lost as you are.
Hopefully this clears up these questions if not keep asking. We will not be available Friday.
